| Welcome My name is Joshua I Kaplan, I am the owner, creater, and usually the sole viewer of this site, kaptionz.com, and this is my gallery Herein are a collection of things of which I authored and consider art and wish to share. I have dabbled in cartooning, the rendering of stories and essays, and song writing, and If you are one of those rarist of folk who have even read this far, i thank you, sincerely. I designed and wrote this page to be as simple as possible, all raw html, no gingerbread. The links at the top of the page will take you to my work. i hope you like it. About Me 64, raised in Philly, married, two kids. Love being a dad, fishing, building model rockets, coffee, playing the guitar, NBA basketball, cheesesteaks, kindness, dogs, the Dan Lebatard Show, and seeing happy people. Some years ago i came to a stark realization about myself. Wasn't quite the epiphany one might hope for, though i'd be foolish to entertain any notion that it came on suddenly. was one of those, "yeah, own it..." kinda things. I realized, or maybe accepted is more accurate here, after many years of self-inventory, bolstered by a relentless and unforgiving aspect of recall, that I ain't shit. embracing this, I am shed of vanity, and arrogance, and sadly some attention to personal hygiene, as well. I'm old and my shit hurts. sometimes it's just easier to stink a little, you know? that's about it. photo below. what was once a handsome profile has been enveloped by turkeyneck and self-recrimination. thank you for being here and taking the time to read this stuff. may you be rich.  This is a thing i've started, and hopefully humorous, fishing magazine and video series surrounding a character named 'Pappy'. Put up some content to read before i decide what to do with the domain name, where to host, should I invest money in this venture, stuff like that. click on the image to check it out. Site News Dec 2025 12/06 -added some stuff to Fishing with Pappydada page and content. 12/04 -just changed the name of Fishing with Pappy, to Fishing with Pappydada, just because there's a guy on facebook that uses Fishing with Pappy as a group name, and i don't want to step on his toes. Looks like a kindly old dude. probably a way better fisherman, too. Pappydada combines both names my kids first called me, and i have yet to see anyone use it but myself. 12/04 -created Fishing with Pappydada page and content. Pappy is the first name my son called me as an infant, and dada is what my daughter called me. This is ultimately why is use it. In the fishing context, Pappy is an old Scottish fisherman that talks like the pirate in spongebob with a little jimminy glick thrown in, with a dubious, and hopefully funny, level of life acumen 12/02 -added a bunch of stuff to the sketchbook over the last couple days. In personal news, i built my son a fishing pole. Gonna devote some effort to a fishing page soon, to show off my efforts, good and bad, and talk about fishing, which i love. 11/29 -created new page called sketchbook within the Artwork framework, for random drawings and tales of yore. 11/28 -added a page called other stuff as a gallery of general artwork, portraits, t-shirts, et al. posting a little at a time. focus is not my strongpoint. 11/18 -got rid of the 'z' thing as a style. i'm too old to try to be cute. not saying i'm not cute, 'cause i am pretty cute for an old man, but it's old cute, like, awwww.... 11/16 -a while back my site stopped working, an i stopped caring, but thanks to my son's interest and acumen, i'm back online. i changed the home page a bit, and added youtube videos to the music page. good lord willin an the creek don't rise, i'll be back with more. |
